Practice News

Hi to all of our patients - we have decided to dedicate a small page here on the website just to keep you updated with anything happening at the practice!

15.8.18

Dear All

I notice that last time I updated this page I was advising of Dr Donaldson's return after maternity leave - now I have to advise that she is off again on maternity leave!  She will be in surgery until mid-September and will be off for about a year - we will be covering her sessions with locum GPs.

We also have 2 new members of staff who have joined us this month - Suzanne & Fiona - we are increasing our staff levels not because we have staff leaving but simply to cover the ever expanding workload associated with such a big practice.  Please bear with us whilst they are training - as mentioned previously it is not simply a matter of answering phones & booking appointments there is much more associated with the Reception job; in fact we will be starting a new process soon on Reception called "Care Navigation" where our staff will "navigate" you to the most appropriate service for your needs which may incidentally not be a GP appointment - for example did you know that you can self-refer to physiotherapy services?  There is a service called Go-2-Physio - follow this link for the referral form (copy & paste) https://www.srft.nhs.uk/about-us/depts/physio/pts/go2physio-referral-form/.  Please let us know how you find this new process - we appreciate all feedback positive or negative.

Talking of feedback you may have noticed that we have lost the small kiosk in reception - this was part of the DEPEND study which we have now finished.  The study was all about collecting feedback from patients and how best to do this.  Even though we have finished the study we do still have our Friends & Family feedback which we are still collecting- we may even trial doing this via text message - something for the future?  Whilst on the subject of text messages you may have noticed that you are getting reminders for your appointments - if you are not then we do not have an up to date mobile number for you & we would relay appreciate if you change your mobile number letting us know as we do sometimes send text messages about patient results How are you finding this - are you getting reminders - do they help?  are there enough - or too many?  Please let us know - we only know if you tell us what is or isn't working!!  Following nicely on (I thought!) there is also our PPG (Patient Participation Group) which isn't a forum to vent frustrations or discuss personal matters but if you feel there is something we can improve within the practice or that you feel we should be doing please come along to one of our meetings - we do have a lovely little group of patients at the moment but the more the merrier & we would love to see you!  Our next meeting is scheduled for 6th December at 6pm but please keep a look out in Reception for the posters!

As always if you have any comments or queries that you feel we haven't or don't cover on here or in Surgery please e-mail me at m.mp@nhs.net & mark it for my attention!
